Suma Rao received the prestigious ‘Hind Rattan Award’ by Honorable Mr. K. C. Pant, (former Defence Minister); and Justice Markandey Katju, a former judge of the Supreme Court and former Chairman of Press Council of India on January 25, 2012 at New Delhi, India.
The ceremony was also attended by many former members of Parliament, Central Ministers of Government of India and other dignitaries namely Shri Kapil Sibal ( former Union Minister for Human Resource Development & Information Technology), Shri Abhishek Manu Singhvi (former Chairman, Legal & Human Rights Deptt.), Mr. K. C. Pant, (former Defence Minister); Dr Nitish Sengupta, former Chairman, Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises; Justice Markandey Katju, a former judge of the Supreme Court and Chairman of Press Council of India, Dr. Bhishma Narain Singh (Former Governor).
She also received the prestigious ‘Global Achievers Award’ in October 2014 at House of Lords, London from RT Hon’ble Baroness Verma.
Suma Rao was awarded for her outstanding services, achievements and contributions, raising the India flag high outside of India.
