Express Entry is the Case Management System used by the Government of Canada to process applications for permanent residence under three federal economic immigration programs. It is an online system through which eligible candidates are assessed, ranked, and invited to apply for permanent residence.
Three categories of applicants may apply for permanent residence through Express Entry:
Express Entry operates as a two-step process:
Step One — Profile Submission The applicant submits an online profile providing details of their skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other relevant personal information. Once submitted, the profile enters the Express Entry pool.
Step Two — Ranking and Selection: Candidates within the Pr Express Entry Application system will be ranked against each other based on a point system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The Government of Canada/ Provincial Governments will then selects an application from the pool. Another point system of 1200 is used to rank the applicants. The highest-ranked applicant, or those with valid job offers or provincial nominations, will be invited to apply for Canadian (PR) permanent residency, then within 60 days need to submit an application for permanent residence and comply with the requirements. The job offer is not mandatory. Applications will be processed within six to ten months from the date of submission. The applications will be in a pool for 12 months, after that could be resubmitted.
Once invited, the candidate must submit a complete application for permanent residence within the specified deadline and satisfy all applicable requirements. Applications are generally processed within six to ten months of submission. Candidates remain in the pool for up to twelve months; if not selected within that period, a new profile must be submitted to be considered again.
